Job Description

Amadeus University invites applications for the position of Assistant Librarian / Law Librarian. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Law Library's collections and services, providing specialised legal information support to law students and faculty, and assisting in the overall administration of library operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop the Law Library's collection of legal texts, journals, law reports, statutes, and digital legal resources
  • Provide specialised legal reference and research assistance to law students, academic staff, and researchers
  • Carry out cataloguing and classification of legal materials using appropriate schemes
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining access to online legal databases and electronic resources
  • Support user education and information literacy programmes tailored to legal research
  • Ensure the Law Library environment is conducive to study and research
  • Assist in procurement, accessioning, and inventory of library materials
  • Collaborate with the main University Library on shared policies and systems

Job Requirement

  • An Honours Bachelor's degree/HND in Library and Information Science (LIS) or a closely related field from a recognised university
  • A Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS/MLS) is required
  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is required; this dual qualification is essential for effective service in the Law Library context
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (or evidence of exclusion)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal research resources and methodologies
  • Computer literacy; proficiency in library management systems and legal database platforms
