Job Description

Amadeus University invites applications for the position of Higher Library Officer. The successful candidate will provide higher-level library support services within the University Library system, leveraging professional experience and knowledge to assist in library operations and user services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management and development of library collections including cataloguing, classification, and accessioning of materials
  • Provide reference and information services to students and academic staff
  • Supervise and guide junior library staff in daily operations
  • Manage circulation services including loans, returns, renewals, and overdues
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the library's electronic catalogue and databases
  • Support the organisation of library orientation and user education programmes
  • Ensure the proper shelving and physical organisation of library materials
  • Assist in the preparation of library reports and statistics as required

Job Requirement

  • An Honours Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science (LIS) from a recognised university
  • A minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification work experience in a university library environment
  • Computer literacy is mandatory; proficiency in library management systems and standard office applications is required
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (or evidence of exclusion)
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills
